How our comparison works
This page describes how the comparison service operates and how offers are ranked, as required by articles D. 111-6 and D. 111-7 of the French Consumer Code. It is reachable from every page of the site.
What we compare
We compare international money transfer services across a set of corridors — that is, pairs of sending and receiving countries. For each corridor we list the providers for which we hold a recorded, dated price.
A provider only appears on a page if a price was actually recorded for that corridor. We display no estimates, no reconstructed prices and no orders of magnitude.
Where no verifiable price is available for a corridor, the page says so explicitly and shows no comparison at all.
Where the prices come from
Provider prices come from the public comparison interface published by Wise, which records the pricing of the various operators. The reference exchange rate comes from open.er-api.com, independent of the providers being compared.
Every corridor page shows the date its prices were collected, and the date of the reference rate. We advertise no update frequency: we display dates.
A price collected more than 72 hours ago is flagged as such and is not ranked alongside recent ones: its cost cannot be measured against today's exchange rate.
Ranking criterion
Providers are ranked by increasing total cost. Total cost combines the stated fees and the margin applied to the exchange rate, measured against the reference interbank rate.
It is computed as: total cost (%) = (amount sent − amount received converted at the interbank rate) ÷ amount sent. This single criterion applies on every page, with no weighting and no manual adjustment.
The amount sent affects the ranking: some providers charge proportional fees, others flat fees. Prices are therefore recorded for several amounts, and the ranking changes with the selected amount.
What plays no part in the ranking
The revenue we earn plays no part in the ranking. No provider can pay to rank higher, to be presented more favourably, or to have competitors removed.
No subjective criterion, no rating of our own and no commercial agreement affects the order in which offers are displayed.
How we are paid
One provider pays us: Wise, through the Partnerize affiliate platform. A click through to Wise followed by a sign-up may earn us a commission, at no extra cost to you.
Links to other providers earn us nothing: they are referral links with no remuneration. The site also carries advertising through Google AdSense, unrelated to the ranking.
The interface that supplies our prices is published by Wise, which itself appears in the comparison. We state this on every corridor page. The reference rate used to rank offers comes from an independent source.
Scope and limits
Our comparison is not exhaustive: it covers neither every provider on the market, nor every corridor, nor every sending and receiving method. A provider missing from a page does not mean it does not serve that corridor.
Displayed prices are recordings, not live pricing. A provider may change its rate or fees at any time. The definitive price is the one shown by the provider at the moment you send.
Listing and delisting
A provider is listed as soon as a price is recorded for it on a covered corridor. It automatically stops being displayed when no price is available for it any more. No commercial step is needed to be listed, and none allows a provider to be removed from a comparison.
What we are not
TransfertCompare is an information and comparison service. We are not a payment institution, a banking intermediary or a financial adviser. We never hold your funds and take no part in your transfer.
