Sending Money to Ivory Coast in 2026: Real Costs Compared

Cheapest way to send money to Ivory Coast from France or the US: quotes we recorded, the World Bank average, and how mobile money payouts work.

In summary

Côte d'Ivoire received $1.77 billion in remittances in 2024. On our late-September 2026 quotes, Western Union was cheapest from France (0.99%) and most expensive from the US, where Remitly left the most CFA francs.

Côte d'Ivoire received $1.77 billion in personal remittances in 2024, according to the World Bank — up from $1.04 billion in 2022. Most transfers come from France, where sending the equivalent of $200 costs 4.05% on average across all operators (World Bank, Q3 2025). The cheapest quotes we recorded were well below that average.

From France: what we recorded on 29 September 2026

Sending €100, fees and exchange-rate margin included:

ProviderFeeRecipient getsTotal costStated delivery
Western Union€0.99F CFA 64,9460.99%about 24 h
WorldRemit€1.85F CFA 64,3821.85%not stated

The CFA franc (XOF) is pegged to the euro at 655.957 francs per euro. From France, providers apply practically the same exchange rate, so the fee makes the whole difference. Two other providers are recorded on this route at other amounts: the route page shows them for €200, €500 and €1,000.

From the United States: what we recorded on 28 September 2026

Sending $100:

ProviderFeeRecipient getsTotal costStated delivery
RemitlyFreeF CFA 56,2842.27%not stated
WorldRemitFreeF CFA 55,5173.60%not stated
Western Union$5.99F CFA 53,6006.93%about 24 h

From the US there is no peg to rely on: the dollar-to-CFA rate each provider applies varies, and it is part of the cost.

What this means in practice

  • The cheapest provider depends on where you send from. Western Union was the cheapest from France, at a quarter of the corridor's average cost; from the US, it was the most expensive of the three.
  • From the US, the gap was F CFA 2,684 on $100 between the best and the worst quote.
  • "Free" is not free. Remitly and WorldRemit charged no fee from the US: their cost sits in the exchange rate. Compare the amount received, not the fee line.

Wise is the only provider that pays this site a commission. It has no influence on any ranking: providers are ordered by the amount the recipient gets.

How money is received in Côte d'Ivoire

About 55% of Ivorian adults hold a bank account, and mobile money is widely used — recipients can be paid directly into a wallet on their phone, into a bank account, or in cash at a pickup point. Payout options differ by provider and by route: check that the recipient's method is offered before comparing prices.

Compare by route

Before you send

  1. Compare the CFA francs received, not the fee.
  2. Check larger amounts on the route page: some fees are flat, others rise with the amount.
  3. Check the payout method: mobile money wallet, bank account or cash pickup.
  4. Treat a first-transfer price as a one-off.
